Academia de la OMPI - [WSS] Programa de cursos de verano sobre propiedad intelectual

Este curso de verano de la OMPI de dos semanas de duración, que organiza la Academia de la OMPI conjuntamente con el Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial de Chile, ofrece una oportunidad a estudiantes próximos a terminar la carrera y jóvenes profesionales de profundizar sus conocimientos en propiedad intelectual (P.I.), comprender mejor la P.I. en tanto que instrumento de desarrollo económico, social, cultural y tecnológico, así como el papel que la OMPI desempeña en la administración mundial de la P.I.

Programa

El programa, que se realizará a través de clases 100% presenciales para los/las participantes, lo integran conferencias a cargo de expertos/as del ámbito de la P.I., tanto de la OMPI como externos, así como casos prácticos y debates de grupos, en los cuales se profundizará en el uso de la P.I. en la práctica.

A través de los temas que forman parte del programa se espera que los/las estudiantes integren contenidos, reflexionen y evalúen las oportunidades y desafíos actuales que ofrece el sistema de PI.

Los/Las estudiantes que satisfagan completamente los requisitos del programa recibirán un certificado de participación.

Condiciones para participar en el curso

En este curso de verano hay plazas para 30 estudiantes de nivel superior (licenciados y posgraduados) y jóvenes profesionales de cualquier campo de estudio o disciplina.

El programa está concebido para candidatos/as con conocimientos de P.I., y que hayan cursado satisfactoriamente el curso DL-101 de la OMPI de forma previa a la inscripción a este curso.

El programa exigirá cursar de forma previa al inicio del curso de verano (entre el 10 y el 14 de marzo de 2025) un programa de nivelación en materias asociadas a aspectos fundamentales de Propiedad Intelectual.

El programa exigirá la participación presencial, dedicación completa y disponibilidad durante los 10 días de duración del programa.

Inscripción por Internet

Las solicitudes deben ser presentadas en línea adjuntando el currículo y una carta de motivación en la cual se señale el interés en participar del curso., así como el certificado de participación del curso DL-101.

Las postulaciones estarán abiertas hasta el 21 de febrero de 2025.

Los/Las candidatos/as seleccionados/as se notificarán una semana después del plazo de inscripción.

Curso de nivelación

Los/Las candidatos/as seleccionados/as deberán cursar de forma previa al inicio del curso de verano (entre el 10 y el 14 de marzo de 2025) un programa de nivelación en materias asociadas a aspectos fundamentales de Propiedad Intelectual. El formato de este curso será asincrónico.

WIPO - India Summer School on Green Technology and Intellectual Property 

Offered by: School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), from March 17 to 28, 2025 in Hybrid Mode.

Curriculum

The Summer School on Green Technology and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) allow participants to explore the intersection of green technology and intellectual property, addressing urgent environmental challenges and fostering innovation. The program includes lectures, case studies, simulation exercises, and group discussions designed to deepen understanding of green technology and IPR.

Key topics covered include:

• The fundamentals of IPR and its relevance to green technology.
• The IP lifecycle and global IP regimes specific to green tech.
• Challenges and opportunities in patenting green technologies.
• Technology transfer mechanisms and collaborative models.
• Policy considerations and emerging trends in green tech innovation.

Participants will also gain practical skills through assignments, case studies, and group projects, culminating in presentations and discussions on the final day.

Conditions for the grant of the Certificate of Participation

A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present in all sessions and shall also actively take part in discussions and group projects.

• Undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars pursuing law or science.
• Entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs.

The course is tailored for individuals seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the role of intellectual property in advancing green technology. Early applications are encouraged as spots are limited.

Curriculum

The Summer School program provides an opportunity to senior students, young professionals and government officials to acquire deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP) and of the role and functions of WIPO.

The WIPO-CIPPM Summer School program will take place virtually only via Zoom Meetings, hosted by the Centre for Intellectual Property, Policy and Management (CIPPM) Bournemouth University (BU), UK.

The program consists of lectures, case studies, simulation exercises and group discussions on selected IP topics, with an orientation towards the interface between IP and other disciplines.

A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present (present through a combination of video, audio, and group discussion) for no less than 80% of these live sessions and take part in discussions and projects.

Before applying, applicants should consider the required commitment to 6-hour day (10 am to 4 pm GMT) with a lunch break in-between.

A further hour (4 – 5 pm GMT) will be available optionally to students from Wednesday May 7 to Thursday  May 15, following the live sessions, should they wish to further discuss their topics with the relevant tutors in general or in preparing their Group Reports for presenting on the final day.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to senior students (graduate and postgraduate students) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The program is designed for candidates who wish to obtain deeper knowledge of IP law. Applicants who are more senior in their field of IP law may find the WIPO-CIPPM Summer School less challenging but are still welcome to apply.

There are a limited number of spots, and applicants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later. Once the program has reached capacity with fully registered applicants (accepted by WIPO and CIPPM and paid with BU), registration will close.

Registration fees (paid online via credit card only) are payable to Bournemouth University upon notification of acceptance from the CIPPM.  They fall into the following categories:

Important Dates & Cancellation Policy

Deadline for accepted applicants to submit registration payment to BU: April 25, 2025.
 
BU will not accept new registrants after April 25, 2025.
 
Accepted attendees may cancel on or before April 4, 2025, and receive a refund of the registration fee minus a cancellation fee of £50. The registration fee will not be refunded for cancellations after April 4, 2025.

Regarding Financial Assistance

We regret to advise that neither WIPO nor BU can offer any financial assistance to those seeking to participate in the program. Similarly, we are unable to identify any third parties that may be able to offer such assistance.

The Summer School is open to senior students and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The Summer School is designed for candidates who wish to obtain deeper knowledge of IP.

Registration Fees

Registration fees are payable to UNIGE upon notification of acceptance from UNIGE. They fall into the following categories:

1. students from developing countries and countries in transition: CHF 250;
2. young professionals from developing countries and countries in transition: CHF 350;
3. students from developed countries:  CHF 750; and
4. young professionals from developed countries: CHF 1000.

The payment of these registration fees within the given time frame granted by UNIGE confirms the formal registration of the participants to the Summer School.

Please note that the tariffs applied are based on your domicile and not your nationality.  Applicants are required to formally confirm that they have indicated their correct country of domicile in their application.

GSS Payment Regulation

Tuition fees are as advertised on the website and can only be paid through the online payment method, in Swiss Francs (CHF).

Tuition fees must be paid within the period determined by the GSS Office and no later than one month prior to the GSS start date. If payment is not made in due time, GSS Office reserves the right to cancel the admission and attribute the place to another applicant.
 
The amount of the tuition fees is mentioned on the website and in the admission email. A non-refundable administrative fee of CHF 100 is included in the tuition fees.
 
Cancellation by the Participant

If a participant cancels his/her enrolment, interrupts the GSS or ends it prematurely, the costs are as follows:
 
If the participant cancels more than four weeks before the start of the GSS, he/she will have to pay 50% of the full Course fee, beyond the CHF 100 administrative fee;
 
If the participant cancels within four weeks of the start of the GSS or during the GSS, tuition fees (including the administrative fee) will not be refunded.

Conditions for the grant of the certificate of participation

A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present in all sessions and shall also actively take part in discussions and group projects. It is further expected from the participants to switch their cameras on for all the sessions of the Summer School (unless there are reasons that would prevent this). Before applying, applicants should consider the required commitment that is needed for their participation at the Summer School.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to senior students (graduate and postgraduate) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The program is designed for candidates who are already familiar with IP.

All applicants are required to have successfully completed the WIPO Distance Learning Course on Intellectual Property Management  (DL 450) before being selected for the program. Access to this online course will be made available upon registration to the Summer School.
 

Insurance and Medical Examination

Non-resident participants will be provided with insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Durban in connection with the Summer School program.

Each participant will be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

Format

The Summer School programme will be implemented in hybrid format.
