The WIPO – Ghana Regional Summer School program, organized in collaboration with the Ghana Industrial Property Office (GHIPO), will be conducted in person and hosted by GHIPO in Accra, Ghana.
Curriculum
The Summer School program provides an opportunity to senior students, young professionals and government officials to acquire deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP) and of the role and functions of WIPO.
The program consists of lectures, case studies, simulation exercises and group discussions on selected IP topics, with an orientation towards the interface between IP and other disciplines.
A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present for no less than 80% of the sessions and take part in discussions and projects.
Before applying, applicants should consider the required commitment to 8-hour day (with a lunch break in-between).
Eligibility
The Summer School is open to senior students (graduate and postgraduate students) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The program is designed for candidates who wish to obtain deeper knowledge of IP law. Applicants who are more senior in their field of IP law may find the program less challenging but are still welcome to apply.
There are a limited number of spots, and applicants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later. Once the program has reached capacity with fully registered applicants (accepted by WIPO and the Ghana Industrial Property Office (GHIPO) and paid with GHIPO), registration will close.
Online Application
Applications to WIPO must be submitted online with résumés, letters of motivation, and copies of passports (or identity cards).
Registration Fees
Registration fees (paid online via credit card only) are payable to GHIPO upon notification of acceptance from GHIPO. They fall into the following categories:
Students and Young Professionals who come from (that is, were born in and/or are a national of) developing countries or countries in transition:
- Students: USD50
- Young professionals: USD100
Students and Young Professionals who come from (that is, were born in and/or are a national of) developed countries:
- Students: USD100
- Young professionals: USD150
Available Scholarships
Our scholarships offer a lump sum to cover travel expenses and partially cover accomodation costs, ensuring that financial constraints don’t hinder your pursuit of knowledge in the field of IP. However, we understand that there may be instances where additional funding is needed. In such cases, participants are expected to cover the remaining expenses. Apply now and take advantage of this opportunity to enhance your understanding of IP!
