Este curso de verano de la OMPI de dos semanas de duración, que organiza la Academia de la OMPI conjuntamente con el Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial de Chile, ofrece una oportunidad a estudiantes próximos a terminar la carrera y jóvenes profesionales de profundizar sus conocimientos en propiedad intelectual (P.I.), comprender mejor la P.I. en tanto que instrumento de desarrollo económico, social, cultural y tecnológico, así como el papel que la OMPI desempeña en la administración mundial de la P.I.

Programa

El programa, que se realizará a través de clases 100% presenciales para los/las participantes, lo integran conferencias a cargo de expertos/as del ámbito de la P.I., tanto de la OMPI como externos, así como casos prácticos y debates de grupos, en los cuales se profundizará en el uso de la P.I. en la práctica.

A través de los temas que forman parte del programa se espera que los/las estudiantes integren contenidos, reflexionen y evalúen las oportunidades y desafíos actuales que ofrece el sistema de PI.

Los/Las estudiantes que satisfagan completamente los requisitos del programa recibirán un certificado de participación.

Condiciones para participar en el curso

En este curso de verano hay plazas para 30 estudiantes de nivel superior (licenciados y posgraduados) y jóvenes profesionales de cualquier campo de estudio o disciplina.

El programa está concebido para candidatos/as con conocimientos de P.I., y que hayan cursado satisfactoriamente el curso DL-101 de la OMPI de forma previa a la inscripción a este curso.

Las solicitudes deben ser presentadas en línea adjuntando el currículo y una carta de motivación en la cual se señale el interés en participar del curso., así como el certificado de participación del curso DL-101.

Los/Las candidatos/as seleccionados/as se notificarán una semana después del plazo de inscripción.

Curso de nivelación

Los/Las candidatos/as seleccionados/as deberán cursar de forma previa al inicio del curso de verano (entre el 6 y el 17 de marzo de 2023) un programa de nivelación en materias asociadas a aspectos fundamentales de Propiedad Intelectual. El formato de este curso será asincrónico.

Este Curso de Verão de duas semanas de duração é oferecido conjuntamente pelo Escritório da OMPI no Brasil, o Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) e a Associação Brasileira da Propriedade Intelectual (ABPI).  Ele oferece uma oportunidade para estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação, funcionários de governo e jovens profissionais de aprofundarem seus conhecimentos sobre PI, para entender a PI como uma ferramenta para o desenvolvimento econômico, social, cultural e tecnológico, assim como compreenderem a função que a OMPI exerce na administração mundial da PI.
 
Esta edição especial do curso para países lusófonos abordará a interseção de temas com o clima e: política, negócios e propriedade intelectual (patentes verdes, marcas, design, indicações geográficas e conhecimentos tradicionais), cultivares e ecoinovação.
 
Programa

O programa consiste em palestras de especialistas renomados na área de PI, bem como estudos de caso e discussões em grupo sobre tópicos selecionados de PI.
 
As aulas serão ministradas online de segunda a sexta das 9:00 às 12:00 (horário do Rio de Janeiro).
 
O conteúdo ficará gravado e disponível para os participantes por um período determinado. Estas gravações se destinam a referência posterior dos alunos e não substituem a participação dos alunos nos horários de aula.
 
Os participantes que tiverem um mínimo de 75% de frequência e forem aprovados na avaliação final  receberão um certificado de participação.

Elegibilidade

Esta edição do Curso de Verão será oferecida online para até 200 participantes do mundo todo. O público alvo são gestores de inovação, mentores, gestores de aceleradoras, gestores de núcleos de inovação tecnológica, empresários, acadêmicos e estudantes de áreas relacionadas com o clima para países de língua portuguesa.
 
Os candidatos devem preferencialmente ter completado com sucesso o Curso Geral de Propriedade Intelectual à distância da OMPI (DL101PBR) antes do prazo de inscrição. Apesar de não ser obrigatório, espera-se que os alunos tenham conhecimentos básicos de propriedade intelectual.
 
Matrícula online

Os candidatos deverão enviar suas inscrições online juntamente com currículos, cartas de motivação e cópias de passaportes (ou carteiras de identidade).

Os candidatos selecionados serão notificados até duas semanas após concluído o prazo de inscrição.

Os participantes selecionados para o curso pagarão a taxa de inscrição correspondente à ABPI após a notificação de sua aceitação e antes de iniciado o curso.

This two-week Summer School offered jointly by the WIPO Brazil Office, the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property (ABPI) provides an opportunity for senior students and young professionals to acquire deeper knowledge of IP, to gain an appreciation of IP as a tool for economic, social, cultural and technological development and to understand the role WIPO plays in the global administration of IP.
This special edition of the course for the Lusophone countries will cover the intersection of climate topics with politics, business and intellectual property (green patents, brands, design, geographical indications and traditional knowledge), plant varieties and eco-innovation.

Curriculum

The program consists of lectures by eminent experts in the field of IP as well as case studies and group discussions on selected IP topics.
Classes will be held online through zoom from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 12:00, Rio time.
 
The content will remain available for a certain period. These recordings are for reference purposes only. Students are expected to attend the course at regular course hours.
 
Students with a minimum 75% attendance and successful in the final evaluation will be entitled to a certificate of participation.

Eligibility

The special session of the Summer School will be for up to 200 participants online. The target audience is innovation managers, mentors, managers of technological innovation centers, entrepreneurs, accelerator managers, academics and students of areas related to the climate and others professionals from Portuguese speaker countries.

Preferably, applicants should have successfully completed the WIPO distance learning General Course on Intellectual Property (DL101PBR) before the registration deadline.  Although it is not mandatory, students are expected to have basic knowledge in the field of Intellectual Property.

Curriculum

The Summer School program provides an opportunity to senior students, young professionals and government officials to acquire deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP) and of the role and functions of WIPO.

As WIPO’s only U.S.-based Summer School, the WIPO-U.S. Summer School program focuses on U.S. IP law and will take place virtually only via Zoom Meetings, hosted by the Center for Intellectual Property x Innovation Policy (C-IP²) at George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School, in Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A.

The program consists of lectures, case studies, simulation exercises and group discussions on selected U.S. IP topics, with an orientation towards the interface between IP and other disciplines.

A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present (present through a combination of video, audio, and group discussion) for no less than 80% of these live sessions and take part in discussions and projects. Before applying, applicants should consider the required commitment to 6-8 hours of live sessions between approximately 8:50am-5:30pm EDT for two weeks. Convert time zones here to gauge availability.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to senior students (graduate and postgraduate students) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The program is designed for candidates who wish to obtain deeper knowledge of U.S. IP law. Applicants who are more senior in their field of IP law may find the WIPO-U.S. Summer School less challenging but are still welcome to apply.

There is a limited number of spots, and applicants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later. Once the program has reached capacity with fully registered applicants (accepted by WIPO and C-IP² and paid with C-IP²), registration will close.

If your country is under U.S. sanctions, we will need a license from the U.S. Department of Treasury to allow you to participate. Applying for that license will take time, and we cannot guarantee that students from countries under sanction will be able to participate. However, the earlier you apply the greater our chances of obtaining the required license. We recommend interested applicants applying from a country under U.S. sanctions (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine) apply through WIPO as soon as possible. This neither guarantees an approved license nor timely consideration by the branch of the U.S. government in charge of reviewing these applications.

C-IP² will not accept new registrants after May 22, 2023.
 
Accepted attendees may cancel on or before May 8, 2023, and receive a refund of the registration fee minus a cancellation fee of USD50. The registration fee will not be refunded for cancellations after May 8, 2023.

Conditions for the grant of the certificate of participation

A certificate of participation is awarded to participants who successfully complete the program requirements. To receive a certificate of participation, participants will be expected to be present in all sessions and shall also actively take part in discussions and group projects. Before applying, applicants should consider the required commitment that is needed for their participation in the Summer School.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open to senior students and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The Summer School is designed for candidates who wish to obtain deeper knowledge of IP.
 

Online Registration

Applications must be submitted online with résumés, letters of motivation, and copies of passports (or identity cards).

Registration Fees

Registration fees are payable to UNIGE upon notification of acceptance from UNIGE. They fall into the following categories:

1. students from developing countries and countries in transition: CHF 250;
2. young professionals from developing countries and countries in transition: CHF 350;
3. students from developed countries:  CHF 750; and
4. young professionals from developed countries: CHF 1000.

The payment of these registration fees within the given time frame granted by UNIGE confirms the formal registration of the participants to the Summer School.

GSS Payment Regulation

Tuition fees are as advertised on the website and can only be paid through the online payment method, in Swiss Francs (CHF).

Tuition fees must be paid within the period determined by the GSS Office and no later than one month prior to the GSS start date. If payment is not made in due time, GSS Office reserves the right to cancel the admission and attribute the place to another applicant.
 
The amount of the tuition fees is mentioned on the website and in the admission email. A non-refundable administrative fee of CHF 100 is included in the tuition fees.
 
Cancellation by the Participant

If a participant cancels his/her enrolment, interrupts the GSS or ends it prematurely, the costs are as follows:
 
If the participant cancels more than four weeks before the start of the GSS, he/she will have to pay 50% of the full Course fee, beyond the CHF 100 administrative fee;
 
If the participant cancels within four weeks of the start of the GSS or during the GSS, tuition fees (including the administrative fee) will not be refunded.

Format

The WIPO-China Summer School in East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) will be held face-to-face on campus and online.
 
Participants doing in-person classes will be responsible for their own travel to and from Shanghai, accommodation and living expenses during their participation of the program. The ECUPL can facilitate the participants with their logistical arrangements as and when required, including for example providing information of hotels within walking distance to the campus (including those with low-priced rooms), providing access to the school cafeterias (at the participants’ own expense), etc.

Insurance and Medical Examination

Participants in traditional classroom training are required to have medical insurance in China, covering the whole duration of study, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China.
 
They will also be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

The Summer School is open to senior students (graduate and postgraduate) and young professionals from any field of study or discipline. The program is designed for candidates who are already familiar with IP.

All applicants are required to have successfully completed the WIPO Distance Learning Course on Intellectual Property Management  (DL 450) before being selected for the program. Access to this online course will be made available upon registration to the Summer School.
 

Insurance and Medical Examination

Non-resident participants will be provided with insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Limpopo in connection with the Summer School program.

Each participant will be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

Format

The Summer School programme will be implemented in hybrid format.
