This Master’s Degree Program in Intellectual Property and Development Policy (MIPD) is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDI School) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). in Sejong, Republic of Korea.

Admission requirements
To be considered, applicants shall:

• Hold at least a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university; and
• ​Be fluent in English.

Maximum number of students
30 places are available for self-supported and financed students.

Scholarships
A number of scholarships available on a competitive basis.  Scholarships cover:

WIPO scholarships are awarded to:

Application
Application deadline for the WIPO scholarship to the MIPD is September 15, 2024. The application on this website is for WIPO scholarships only. 

Candidates must also apply for admission to the program directly with KDI School, using the School’s online registration system (https://kdischool.ac.kr/admissions/). KDI School is expected to accept applications from August 28 to September 15, 2024 (Korea Standard Time).  Please refer to the KDI School website for the latest information and instructions. WIPO will only consider the applicant who completed both applications - WelC and the admission application for KDI School.

Candidates will be notified by KDI School if they have been accepted onto the program.  Once a shortlist of candidates has been identified by KDI School, WIPO will review the applications of those candidates who also applied for a WIPO scholarship. Only candidates who have been successful in their scholarship application will be informed of WIPO’s decision regarding their application.

Travel 
Depending on the situation in 2024, it is possible that WIPO scholars may have to follow the lectures online from their home countries for part or all of the residential phase. The WIPO travel policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as the situation evolves.

Award
Successful students will be awarded Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and Development Policy by the KDI School on behalf of WIPO and KIPO.

Requisitos de admisión
Los postulantes al programa deberán cumplir los siguientes requisitos:

• Poseer, como mínimo, un título de grado de una universidad reconocida.

• Dominar el idioma español y tener buenos conocimientos de inglés.  Si bien prácticamente todas las clases se impartirán en español, puede haber bibliografía y estudios de casos en inglés. También es posible que las clases impartidas por los profesores invitados sean en inglés.

• Los candidatos interesados deberán completar los formularios de solicitud en línea, a más tardar, el 8 de diciembre de 2023.

Solicitud
Los candidatos deberán solicitar la admisión al programa directamente a la UdeSA. Además, deberán haber completado la inscripción en línea ante la OMPI, en esta misma página. Se notificará a los candidatos si han sido aceptados en el programa. Una vez finalizado el proceso de admisión, la OMPI examinará las solicitudes de los candidatos que en sus cartas de motivación hayan expresado interés en obtener una beca de la OMPI. Únicamente los candidatos que hayan obtenido la beca serán notificados de la decisión de la OMPI al respecto.

Becas
Habrá un número limitado de becas para estudiantes de países de América Latina, que se otorgarán mediante concurso entre los candidatos que reúnan los méritos necesarios. Las becas cubrirán la totalidad de la matrícula y los gastos de alojamiento.

Podrán beneficiarse de becas de la OMPI funcionarios gubernamentales y personas que trabajan en el sector público, como universidades, centros académicos e institutos de investigación y desarrollo.
Quienes soliciten una beca de la OMPI deberán expresar su interés en la carta de motivación que incluirán en su solicitud.

La beca cubre lo siguiente:

Título otorgado

The second edition of the WIPO-WTO Colloquium for IP Teachers and Researchers in Africa and the Intellectual Property Scholars Africa (IPSA) Conference will be held in-person at the University of Cape Town, South Africa from August 5 to 8, 2024 and IPSA on August 9, 2024.  

Objectives of the Colloquium
The WIPO-WTO Colloquium for IP Teachers and Researchers in Africa will:

• provide IP academics in the region with a greater understanding of current international developments in IP law and policy, and the status of WIPO and WTO  agreements, focusing on current IP activities particular relevant to the African context;
• map existing IP teaching and scholarship in Africa, promote cutting edge research focused on the region;
• provide a forum to build academic collaboration, including on current teaching methodologies in IP law, and academic exchanges across Africa; and
• identify how WIPO and the WTO can improve their support for teaching and research capacity on international IP law in Africa, and a stronger network of African IP scholars and teachers.

Admission requirements
To be considered, applicants should:

• hold an advanced degree and have teaching experience in intellectual property law or international law/economics/management with a specialization in IP;
• be fluent in English; and
• Select a topic related to one of the themes on the draft program. Prepare, and submit as part of the application, a one page summary and an outline of a paper that the applicant will present during the Colloquium. 
• Candidates with Africa-focused research on IP and the following themes are encouraged to apply by May 15:
  • Recent developments in IP Laws and regulations within WIPO and WTO; United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs); African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); Innovation and technology adaptation; Climate change and environmentally friendly technologies; Traditional knowledge and genetic resources; Frontier technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and business; Global public health (including the COVID-19 pandemic and diversifying production of vaccines and other key technologies); and Building capacity of universities to transform ideas into tangible assets.

Maximum number of participants
50 places are available. Selected applicants will be invited to present their papers at the IP Scholars Africa Conference following the 4-days Colloquium.

However, since the acceptance to the Colloquium is limited to 25 places, interested applicants are also encouraged to independently submit to present at the IP Scholars Africa Conference if they are interested in attending the conference on August 9, 2024.
 

Scholarships (to be confirmed) 
Twenty scholarships are available from WIPO and WTO for IP teachers and researchers. Scholarships cover:

• Return ticket
• Full board and lodging

Visa costs and medical insurance, if any, are at the expense of participants.

• hold an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution; and
• be fluent in English or meet the English language proficiency requirement (IELTS (Academic) 6.5, or TOEFL 580 (paper-based) / 85 (internet based)), which will be also assessed through an admissions interview.

Scholarships
Up to 10 scholarships will be available from WIPO and through SUSS. WIPO will pay 50% of tuition fees for 5 qualified candidates while another 5 qualified candidates will receive 50% tuition fee funding through SUSS. WIPO scholarships are awarded in priority to government officials and persons working in the public sector such as universities, academies, and research and development institutions. Eligible candidates should be from developing countries or least developed countries (LDCs).

Dates

• August 2024 to November 2024: First non-residential/residential semester – students can opt to study remotely in their country of residence or be physically present in Singapore.
• January 2025 to April 2025: Second residential semester at SUSS in Singapore.

Students who have fulfilled the academic and administrative requirements will be awarded the Master of Intellectual Property and Innovation Management degree by the Singapore University of Social Sciences in collaboration with WIPO.

Admission requirements

There are three categories of applicants for the Joint Masters/LL.M. Program: (i) Indian Nationals, (ii) Foreign Nationals; and (iii) Officials of the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM – Indian IP Office).

Admission under the cateogry of Foreign Nationals shall be made based on the below prescribed criteria:
(a) Academic Record of Bachelor’s Degree (for M.A.) or LL.B. or equivalent degree (for LL.M.) recognized by the UGC/Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade.
(b) Assessment of necessary communication skills in written and spoken English is a prerequisite. Scores of IELTS/TOEFL with a minimum requirement of [IELTS (Academic) 6.5, or TOEFL 580 (paper-based) / 85 (internet based)].
(c) The candidates will have to submit a written personal statement (minimum 500 and upto 700 words) at the time of the application.
(d) Candidates for the interview will be called in the ratio of 2:1 based on the cumulative score of the academic record and IELTS/TOEFL result. Two letters of recommendation (Academic/Professional) must be submitted at the time of the interview.

The WIPO-Tongji MIP in Industrial Property is a Master's program open to Law and non-Law graduates:

• Outstanding academic performance, such as academic transcript etc.
• In possession of a valid passport for years 2024-2025

Application

Scholarships
20 scholarships (during full residential period) are available. WIPO provides a limited number of scholarships (including travel costs), the Chinese Government provides 15 scholarships (not including travel costs) with the coverage of travel costs financed by WIPO.
 
WIPO scholarships are awarded to:

• government officials and persons working in the public sector such as universities, academies, and research and development institutions; and
• candidates should be from developing countries or least developed countries (LDCs).
• WIPO scholarship is awarded to admissible candidates with best assessment scores from Tongji University.

WIPO Scholarships cover:

Duration of the program

• September 2024 to July 2025: fully residential at Tongji University: courses and presentation of the thesis outline in the face-to-face annual conference
• August to December 2025: completion of thesis writing in home countries and online oral defense.

Successful students will be awarded Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP) with specialization in Industrial Property by Tongji University on behalf of WIPO.

Languages:
The Master programme is offered in two languages: English and Russian.

Admission requirements
The main objective of the Admissions process is to select students with the greatest potential who can make a significant contribution to the learning experience.
 
Application
All applicants have to register through IE University. In order to start your online application please click here. You must submit the following documents:

• Bachelor degree in Law from an accredited university (*).
• Official university transcripts (certified translation into English or Spanish).
• 1 page CV/Resume. See example here.
• 1 essay.
• 2 letters of recommendation.
• English language certificate – for non-Native English speakers: we accept the TOEFL (minimum score of 100), the IELTS (minimum score of 7), Duolingo English Test (minimum score 120) or a Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency level. A certificate is not required if you completed an undergraduate degree in English. The validity of all previously mentioned English language certificates for IE’s admissions process is two years, from the date you took the exam.
• Entrance Exam: students may take our own internal exam the IE Global Admissions Test (ieGAT) or the GMAT, LSAT, GRE.
• Photocopy of current passport.
• Passport size picture.
• Application fee: 150€ (fee is not refundable).

Scholarships
Up to 5 scholarships will be available from WIPO and IE University. WIPO will pay 20% of tuition fees for qualified candidates and IE Foundation will match each of the scholarships granted by WIPO on an equal amount of 20% of tuition fees per candidate (*).

Award

 L’Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OMPI), l’Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI), et l’Université de Yaoundé II (UY II) avec l’assistance du Gouvernement du Japon lancent la treizième édition du Programme de Master en propriété intellectuelle, à l’Université de Yaoundé II, au Cameroun.

Structure

• Première partie: Enseignement à distance administré par l'OMPI (Octobre à Décembre)

• Deuxième partie: Cours magistraux, travaux dirigés et stage pratique (Janvier à Mai)

• Troisième partie: Examen et soutenance de mémoires (Juin)

La deuxième et la troisième partie se dérouleront à l'Université de Yaoundé II et à l'Académie de Propriété Intellectuelle Denis Ekani (APIDE) de l’OAPI, au Cameroun.

Diplôme

Conditions d’admissibilité
Le Programme est ouvert à toute personne qui souhaite acquérir l'expertise dans le domaine de la propriété intellectuelle tant sur le plan national qu'international.
Les candidats doivent être titulaires au moins d’une maîtrise ou équivalent en droit, en économie, en sciences ou d’un diplôme d’ingénieur délivré par une université ou une grande école reconnue. Les candidats doivent être capables de suivre des cours en français ou en anglais.
Chaque candidat retenu sera inscrit, en fonction de son profil, dans une des trois spécialités suivantes:

• Droit de la PI et nouvelles technologies (juristes);
• Propriété industrielle appliquée (scientifiques et ingénieurs)
• Economie et management de la PI (économistes, comptables, financiers).
