This Master’s Degree Program in Intellectual Property and Development Policy (MIPD) is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDI School) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). in Sejong, Republic of Korea.

Admission requirements
To be considered, applicants shall:
- Hold at least a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university; and
- Be fluent in English.
- Apply to both WIPO channel and KDI School’s online application system within the deadline.
Maximum number of students
30 places are available for self-supported and financed students.
Scholarships
A number of scholarships available on a competitive basis. Scholarships cover:
* Visa costs, if any, are at the expense of participants
* Korean applicants' may receive scholarship benefit of tuition fees if selected by KDIS and WIPO
WIPO scholarships are awarded to:

Government officials and others working in the public sector such as universities, academies and research and development institutions.

Candidates should be from developing countries, least developed countries (LDCs) or countries in transition.
Successful applicants for WIPO scholarships are notified by the WIPO Academy. Thereafter they will be provided with relevant information, including travel arrangements.
Application
Application deadline for the WIPO scholarship to the MIPD is August 30, 2024. The application on this website is for WIPO scholarships only.
Candidates must also apply for admission to the program directly with KDI School, using the School’s online registration system (https://kdischool.ac.kr/admissions/). KDI School is expected to accept applications from August 12 to 30, 2024 (Korea Standard Time). Please refer to the KDI School website for the latest information and instructions. WIPO will only consider the applicant who completed both applications - WelC and the admission application for KDI School.
Please note that for an application for admission to be considered by KDI School, all required documents must be submitted on time, in accordance with the instructions on the School website. This is separate from the submission of documents to WIPO on this website. Please note that candidates who pass the Document Review stage will be required to submit hard-copy apostilled/consular-authenticated documents to KDI School by a subsequent designated deadline.

- Two Recommendation Letters
- A Copy of Passport
Candidates will be notified by KDI School if they have been accepted onto the program. Once a shortlist of candidates has been identified by KDI School, WIPO will review the applications of those candidates who also applied for a WIPO scholarship. Only candidates who have been successful in their scholarship application will be informed of WIPO’s decision regarding their application.

Travel
Depending on the situation in 2024, it is possible that WIPO scholars may have to follow the lectures online from their home countries for part or all of the residential phase. The WIPO travel policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as the situation evolves.
Award
Successful students will be awarded Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and Development Policy by the KDI School on behalf of WIPO and KIPO.
Teachers
Classes are delivered by experienced academics from the KDI School in Sejong, visiting lecturers from other universities, IP experts from WIPO, KIPO, as well as practitioners with high expertise in the field of IP and Development.
