The Master of Intellectual Property and Innovation Management with specialization in IP Business is offered jointly with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Admission requirements
To be considered, applicants shall:

• hold an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution; and
• be fluent in English or meet the English language proficiency requirement (IELTS (Academic) 6.5, or TOEFL 580 (paper-based) / 85 (internet based)), which will be also assessed through an admissions interview.

Scholarships
Up to 10 scholarships will be available from WIPO and through SUSS. WIPO will pay 50% of tuition fees for 5 qualified candidates while another 5 qualified candidates will receive 50% tuition fee funding through SUSS. The application for scholarship is made through the same link as the one for the application for the program on the WIPO Academy webpage.
 

WIPO scholarships are awarded in priority to government officials and persons working in the public sector such as universities, academies, and research and development institutions. Eligible candidates should be from developing countries or least developed countries (LDCs).

Dates

• August 2024 to November 2024: First non-residential/residential semester – students can opt to study remotely in their country of residence or be physically present in Singapore.
• January 2025 to April 2025: Second residential semester at SUSS in Singapore.

 
Award
Students who have fulfilled the academic and administrative requirements will be awarded the Master of Intellectual Property and Innovation Management degree by the Singapore University of Social Sciences in collaboration with WIPO.

Travel

Requisitos de admisión
Los postulantes al programa deberán cumplir los siguientes requisitos:

• Poseer, como mínimo, un título de grado de una universidad reconocida.

• Dominar el idioma español y tener buenos conocimientos de inglés.  Si bien prácticamente todas las clases se impartirán en español, puede haber bibliografía y estudios de casos en inglés. También es posible que las clases impartidas por los profesores invitados sean en inglés.

• Los candidatos interesados deberán completar los formularios de solicitud en línea. Se aceptarán solicitudes hasta el 20 de enero de 2025, pero se recomiendo a los candidatos a presentar su solicitud lo mas pronto posible.

Solicitud
Los candidatos deberán solicitar la admisión al programa directamente a la UdeSA. Además, deberán haber completado la inscripción en línea ante la OMPI, en esta misma página. Se notificará a los candidatos si han sido aceptados en el programa. Una vez finalizado el proceso de admisión, la OMPI examinará las solicitudes de los candidatos que en sus cartas de motivación hayan expresado interés en obtener una beca de la OMPI. Únicamente los candidatos que hayan obtenido la beca serán notificados de la decisión de la OMPI al respecto.

Becas
Habrá un número limitado de becas para estudiantes de países de América Latina, que se otorgarán mediante concurso entre los candidatos que reúnan los méritos necesarios. Las becas cubrirán la totalidad de la matrícula y los gastos de alojamiento.

Podrán beneficiarse de becas de la OMPI funcionarios gubernamentales y personas que trabajan en el sector público, como universidades, centros académicos e institutos de investigación y desarrollo.
Quienes soliciten una beca de la OMPI deberán expresar su interés en la carta de motivación que incluirán en su solicitud.

La beca cubre lo siguiente:

There are three categories of applicants for the Joint Masters/LL.M. Program:
(i) Indian Nationals,

The admission process of foreign nationals is as mentioned below:

(i) Academic record of the qualifying examination (70% Weightage): Academic record of Bachelor's Degree (For M.A. Programme) or LL.B. or equivalent Degree (For LL.M. Programme) recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade. (ii) Group Discussion (15% Weightage); and (iii) Interview (15% Weightage)

20 scholarships (during full residential period) are available. WIPO provides a limited number of scholarships (including travel costs), the Chinese Government provides 15 scholarships (not including travel costs) with the coverage of travel costs financed by WIPO.

Scholarships

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) are jointly organizing a two-week colloquium for teachers of intellectual property from developing countries and countries with economies in transition, in Geneva, Switzerland. 

Content
In this two-week program, participants engage with renowned experts from academia, the private sector, and officials from WIPO and WTO to explore how intellectual property intersects with areas like development, public health, technology transfer, and emerging technologies, all through a series of focused thematic sessions, including on:

• Intellectual property policy and economic development;
• Artificial intelligence and creativity;
• Interface between patents and health innovations;
• Securing digital frontiers: IP enforcement in E-commerce and digital trade;
• Climate adaption innovation;
• Mapping agri-foods systems; and
• Knowledge transfer – from research to market.

Participation and Admission Requirements
The colloquium lays a focused emphasis on intellectual property law and policy, with the expectation that participants possess an advanced understanding of the subject. At the same time, it adopts a multidisciplinary approach, welcoming participation of lawyers, economists, academics and other university teachers and researchers actively working in the field.

To be eligible for consideration for the funded positions, the applicant must be currently  employed as a university teacher specializing in intellectual property in a developing country or in a country with an economy in transition, and possess a minimum of five years of teaching experience in the field.

• an ongoing role in policy analysis or advice with respect to WIPO or WTO discussions, or at the national or regional level is desirable;
• an established track record in research and publication in the field of intellectual property;
• An advanced university degree and at least five years of teaching experience in IP or a related field with a specialization in IP, such as international law or economics; and
• an excellent knowledge of English.
