IP Summer Youth Camps

The Academy’s Creativity and Inventiveness summer camps and innovation hubs help youth understand and obtain the keys to innovation by participating in courses and activities and urging them to respect the IP rights of others. The 3-day training empowers out-of-the-box thinking, offers exposure to emerging issues such as digital transformation and AI, and demonstrates how creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship are strongly linked with IP rights.

Country Examples per Year

Jordan: July 19 to 21, 2025:

This IP Youth Camp in Amman empowered young people with practical skills in creativity, innovation, and IP. The camp brought together 41 youth aged 18 to 24 for interactive sessions that combined teamwork, design thinking, and problem-solving. The training demonstrated how IP is linked with innovation and entrepreneurship through activities including copyright and patent games, trademark and industrial design exercises, and an entrepreneurship pitching session. This session guided participants from idea development to market preparation, helping them understand how IP supports the process of turning ideas into tangible outcomes. The initiative contributed to equipping young innovators with foundational IP and entrepreneurial skills, supporting their engagement in innovation ecosystems and future creative ventures. The program was organized by the WIPO Academy in collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Youth, Ministry of Education, the Industrial Property Protection Directorate, and the Department of the National Library, and was held from July 19 to 21, 2025.

Latvia: August 19 to 22, 2025:

The first regional Baltic IP Youth Camp was held in Ratnieki, Latvia, bringing together young participants from across the Baltic region to strengthen their understanding of creativity, innovation, and IP. The camp provided a hands-on learning environment in which participants engaged in interactive workshops, team-based challenges, and creative problem-solving activities focused on transforming ideas into protected and valuable outputs. Participants explored core IP concepts, innovation pathways, and entrepreneurial thinking, gaining practical insights into how IP supports creative expression and real-world application. The initiative aimed to empower young people with innovation-ready skills and to nurture a new generation of creators capable of contributing to national and regional innovation ecosystems. The camp was organized by the WIPO Academy in collaboration with its partners.

Tunisia: July 20 to 23, 2024:

A youth-focused initiative aimed at strengthening creativity, innovation, and IP awareness among young people across the country. Through interactive workshops and hands-on activities, Tunisian youth explored core IP concepts, creative problem-solving approaches, and pathways for transforming ideas into innovative projects. The program emphasized the role of IP in supporting entrepreneurship and employability, while equipping young participants with practical skills to navigate innovation ecosystems. This initiative contributed to empowering youth as active contributors to Tunisia’s innovation and creative economy. The WIPO Academy and Tunisia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports collaboratively implemented the workshop.

Jordan: August 1 to 8, 2023:

Youth-focused efforts continue to strengthen creativity, innovation, and IP awareness. This initiative engaged youth through interactive learning activities designed to introduce core IP concepts. It demonstrated how creativity and innovation can be transformed into protected and valuable outputs. Participants explored practical problem-solving approaches, innovation challenges, and real-life examples that illustrated the role of IP in entrepreneurship and creative industries. The program empowered young people with foundational innovation skills and fostered an early understanding of how IP supports the journey from ideas to impact. The WIPO Academy, in collaboration with national partners in Jordan, delivered this training.

Jordan: August, 2022:

The Al Hussein Youth Camps engaged young people aged 15–17 in creativity, innovation, and IP learning throughout August 2022 as part of International Youth Day celebrations. The camps introduced participants to key IP concepts linked to problem-solving, invention, and entrepreneurial thinking through interactive seminars, group activities, and practical creativity exercises. Students engaged with tools such as the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ); explored how IP supports the protection and commercialization of ideas, and applied their learning to real-world creative challenges. The initiative aimed to equip youth with foundational skills and confidence to enable their participation in innovation ecosystems and to strengthen their understanding of how IP supports their creative and entrepreneurial journeys. The youth camps were jointly delivered by the WIPO Academy and the Jordanian Ministry of Youth.
