IP Summer Youth Camps

The Academy’s Creativity and Inventiveness summer camps and innovation hubs help youth understand and obtain the keys to innovation by participating in courses and activities and urging them to respect the IP rights of others. The 3-day training empowers out-of-the-box thinking, offers exposure to emerging issues such as digital transformation and AI, and demonstrates how creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship are strongly linked with IP rights.

In August 2022, as part of the International Youth Day celebration, the Jordanian Ministry of Youth partnered with WIPO to organize the Al Hussein Youth Camps. Sixty participants aged 15 to 17 experienced transformative eureka moments during interactive seminars on innovation, creativity, and intellectual property, marking a significant step towards fostering a culture of creativity in Jordan.

The camps offered a dynamic learning experience on IP and business commercialization through interactive lessons, group activities, trivia quizzes, and exercises aimed at fostering out-of-the-box thinking. They were encouraged to apply core problem-solving and IP concepts to protect their creative, entrepreneurial, and innovative works before placing them in the market. Additionally, the inclusion of local success stories from young entrepreneurs with IP protection, developed in partnership with the Jordan River Foundation, served to inspire and motivate the participants’ entrepreneurial endeavors.

Youth Innovation Hubs - TANIT: (Tunisia)

A collaboration between WIPO and the Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sports has drawn inspiration from TANIT, a legendary figure who symbolizes rebirth and growth. The youth centers will empower and inspire participants by cultivating their innovative and creative potential.

WIPO Facilitated the project to provide comprehensive support to the Youth Innovation Hubs in Tunisia, named TANIT. The objective is to assess and enhance the capabilities of selected youth facilities in Tunisia. These centers will play a pivotal role in bringing together youth and facilitators from diverse urban and rural areas. TANIT is working toward a conducive environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and a deep understanding of intellectual property among the youth for the development of a vibrant and forward-thinking generation in Tunisia.

Applying the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving to IP

The IP4Youth Summer Camps and Innovation Clubs deliver seminars that involve group activities, trivia quizzes, out-of-the-box thinking and practical creativity exercises on IP using the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ). This method is particularly useful and easily integrated in STEM activities and is supported by a Hub of online resources and other learning material provided through WIPO Academy’s online Youth Corner.
