The WIPO Academy has effectively responded to dozens of Member State requests to translate and customize the distance learning courses it offers internationally in official languages required to accelerate fundamental IP knowledge transfer to wide ranging country beneficiaries.
Customization requests are approved through cooperation agreements that initiate the customization process, which involves a standard procedure including approval of course content translators, transfer of course content, and facilitation of a course container on WIPO Academy’s eLearning platform.
This exercise demands the involvement of dedicated staff or team with requisite background who are trained throughout the customization process to develop levels of expertise as they construct the building blocks of an effective IP education tool that corresponds to the context of the country and possibly region. The involvement of national IP offices is expected to be particularly dynamic including as part of an international network of IP education advocates and experts. Skills and knowledge transfer are therefore a vibrant aspect of this process.
